Dr. Nader Sultan

Dr. Nader H. Sultan, born in 1948, is a Senior Partner in F+N Consultancy Company. The firm specializes in high level strategic advice related to the energy industry.

Previously, he worked for 33 years in the Kuwait oil industry, and from 1993, he was the Deputy Chairman and Managing Director of Planning of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. In 1998, he was also appointed as the CEO.

Dr. Sultan previously served as the Executive Assistant Managing Director for Planning & International Downstream, in the Marketing division. At the same time, he was the President of Kuwait Petroleum International Limited (KPI) since its formation in July 1983. KPI, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) is responsible for coordinating the international refining and marketing operations of KPC.

In 1980, when the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation was formed, he was appointed as Executive Assistant Managing Director for Worldwide Product sales, based in Kuwait, and was responsible for the marketing of KPC's crude oil and products in Europe and America.

Dr. Sultan started his career at the Kuwait National Petroleum Company in 1971 as an executive trainee and has held a series of positions of increasing responsibility, including Assistant Regional Sales Manager, Manager (International Marketing), Sales Manager (West of Suez) and Supply Manager.

He retired in September 2004 and formed F+N Consultancy with his brother Fawzi Sultan.

Dr. Sultan was educated at King School Gloucester, and is a graduate of the University of London with a B.Sc. degree in Economics in 1971.

He currently serves as the Director of the Oxford Energy Seminar, which is a two week program every year, at St. Catherine's College, Oxford University. He is also the Non-Executive Chairman of IKARUS Petroleum Holdings, a newly established company with ownership in several petrochemical ventures in the GCC.

​Dr. Nader also serves on the International Advisory Board of Dana Gas and the Supervisory Board of the Al-Markaz Energy Fund.​
